Technology Based Student Learning

Hey everyone, I’m Cassie Salmon and I am a fourth year student here at the University of Technology Kuringai. I am currently undertaking a summer course titled Current Issues and Applications in Educational Computing and am just beginning to discover the many options the world wide web offers individuals and groups all around the world, both young and old. I am the first to admit I am not that tech-savy however I am here and willing to give it a go! I believe that educational computing is so essential in the learning of students in todays schools because of the current and on-going advances in technology all around the world. Individuals are required to be learned in both basic computer skills as well as aware of the millions of applications and brilliant things that can be done using the internet in order to keep ahead of the trends and be a fully functioning member of the new and highly technological world.
My teaching and education philosophy is one which puts the child at the core of their own learning, it is one which values the students previous learning and encouraging risk taking and giving everything a go!
I hope through this blog I hope to put my ideas out there, converse with others and to learn through experimenting!
